WNL round-up: Rare Peamount defeat as Shelbourne claim derby honours

Champions Peamount United suffered just their second league defeat of their season as they lost 3-0 to Galway United.

After a goalless first half in Drom, Galway took control in the second half to earn an impressive victory.

Rola Olusola opening the scoring in the 47th minute with a low finish after being played in on the right and she grabbed her second in the 65th minute.

Any hopes of a Peamount recovery were ended 10 minutes later as Jenna Slattery grabbed Galway's third.

Second-placed Shamrock Rovers were far too strong for Treaty United as they recorded an emphatic 4-1 win on the road.

Rovers dominated the opening period but only led by one goal at half time, Alannah McEvoy pouncing from close range in the 29th minute.

Indeed, Treaty could have been level in the break as Cara Griffin's neat footwork opened up some space, but her shot rebounded off the crossbar.
