WNBA's Tempo unveil plans for new dedicated practice facility set to open in 2028
The Toronto Tempo are getting their own practice facility.
The announcement was made at the team's home arena, Coca-Cola Coliseum, with majority owner Larry Tanenbaum, Tempo president Teresa Resch, Mayor Olivia Chow and Deputy Mayor Ausma Malik on hand.
The facility, set to be ready for the 2028 season, will be built on an "underused" parking lot at Exhibition Place and will include two WNBA regulation courts, sports medicine, sports performance, and recovery areas, player lounges and locker rooms.
It will also be available to the community during the off-season and when the Tempo are out of town for up to 2,200 hours of programming per year. The facility will be completely funded by the Tempo, leasing the property from the city.
The Tempo are one of two expansion teams coming to the WNBA this season, along with the Portland Fire.
Toronto will tip-off its inaugural season on May 8 against the visiting Washington Mystics.
