"Without a shadow of a doubt" – Sky Sports reporter drops big claim on 70-cap Spurs ace's future

Ben Davies will still be a Tottenham player next season despite Spurs drawing up a shortlist of left centre-backs, according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.

Fabio Paratici is making a left-sided defender a top priority this summer, but Bridge doesn’t think that any incomings will result in the 70-cap Wales international being sold.

Tottenham might be targeting a left centre-back in the next window, but Davies is enjoying a fine campaign in the back three alongside Eric Dier and Cristian Romero.

The 28-year-old hardly had a look in under Nuno Espirito Santo, with Sergio Reguilon his first choice left-back.

But since Conte’s appointment in early November, the Welshman has become a key player for the Italian, starting every game but two in all competitions, and they were the Conference League game with Mura and Boxing Day clash with Crystal Palace when he was rested due to the hectic festive schedule.

That highlights his importance to Conte, who described the ex-Swansea defender as ‘reliable‘ after his performance against Newcastle earlier this month when he proved crucial at both ends of the pitch.

Conte also said he believes Davies is having a ‘fantastic season‘, which is why Bridge doesn’t think that he’s a player that Tottenham will even consider moving on this summer despite heavy links to a host of left centre-backs.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “Ben Davies has done really well. He will be at Tottenham next season without a shadow of a doubt, he can play at left-back and left centre-back.”
