Wishaw target 'two or three quality players' as summer plans detailed

Wishaw boss David Dunn says his side are looking to add a few ‘quality’ players in the off-season as their league campaign draws to a close.

The Beltane Park club head into this weekend’s West of Scotland Football League Conference C clash with Yoker Athletic knowing a point would secure their place in fifth.

They drew 1-1 with title-chasing Petershill in their final home game and only have a WOSFL Cup match with Cambuslang Rangers to go after Saturday.

Dunn took charge of Wishaw earlier this season and a strong return in his first period has them sitting with just one defeat in nine games.

Now he is looking ahead to next season and building on a strong core of players he has at his disposal.

The former Airdrie star said: “The game had everything. There was lots of good football and we were excellent, from start to finish.

“I was so proud of the players but we were so devastated at the end we could hardly speak. I felt for the players as they put so much into the game. It was a sore one for us, but I am proud, looking back now.”

Dunn added: “We are starting to come together really, as a team, and the players are fighting their own corners too. We worked our socks off and that’s all you can ask for at this level.

“I’ve spoke to a few of them and some have agreed to come back for next year. We are very positive about the end of this season and next term.

“The squad is looking good but I’d love to add two or three quality players. If we do, we have the makings of a right good side.”
