Wishaw star's broken eye socket leaves side cursing luck as another injury befalls them

David Dunn is cursing his luck after another injury blow befell his struggling Wishaw side on Saturday.

The Beltane Park boss saw defender Ewan Herriot go off midway through the first half of Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Forth Wanderers due to a fractured eye socket and potential broken nose.

And that comes after a tough period where Kieran Brannan pulled up in the warm-up of their opening game and then goalkeeper Connor Blades was replaced eight minutes into their defeat to Renfrew last month.

Wishaw were leading 1-0 through an Aiden Ward strike at the point of Herriot’s injury before Foth turned the game on its head by half-time. But Brannan netted a penalty in the second half to earn a point.

Dunn, whose side are still looking for their first win in West of Scotland League Division Two, said: “It just seems to be one thing after another right now.

“We got off to a good start and scored a good goal, but unfortunately we lost another player to injury.

“Ewan fractured his eye-socket and we think broke his nose as well. I really feel for him because he is supposed to be going on holiday, but I don’t think he’s allowed to fly now.

“We had to change the shape because of that. I’m not using these moments as excuses, it’s just that it knocks the stuffing out of us.

“I thought a draw was fair.

"Again, I don’t think we did enough and we are still not clicking. Individual errors are costing us and if we keep doing it we won’t win games.”
