Wishaw boss slams 'shambolic' defending in loss as he starts to question his position

Boss David Dunn blasted Wishaw’s shambolic defending in a 7-2 hammering at Caledonian Locomotives - then admitted he will have to look at his own position if they can’t stop the rot.

Wishy are yet to pick up a single point in the West of Scotland Second Division from their opening four games.

And they have now conceded 12 goals in their last two outings, with the Caley result coming off the back of last week’s 5-2 hammering by Bonnyton Thistle.

A chaotic day started badly with the visitors going a goal down inside two minutes, but they responded immediately through Ross McQueen to pull level at 1-1.

Twelve minutes in, Caley went back in front from the penalty spot after goalkeeper Connor Blades clattered into a home player in the box.

It got worse in 19 minutes when Cammy Lawson saw red for a poor challenge to reduce Wishaw to 10 men.

Caley missed a penalty but went 3-1 up with just 25 minutes on the clock, yet Wishaw responded through Kieran Brannan to get to the break at 3-2.

In the second half, however, Caley netted four times without reply to seal a comfortable victory and heap more misery on rock bottom Wishaw.

Gutted Dunn said: “The defending at the goals is shambolic. It really was schoolboy stuff and until that stops, we will be where we are.

“Everybody has to have a look at themselves, myself included. I’ll have a long hard think about things and see how we get better because it can’t keep going on like this.

“We got ourselves to half-time at 3-2, keeping ourselves in the game, but individual errors have cost us yet again.

“There’s a lot of issues in the squad with players away on holidays, folk coming back in. We had a different back four on Saturday and guys coming back in haven’t played much football.
