“Wise short-term addition” – Hull City rival Bristol City in Derby County player pursuit: The verdict

Hull City have set their sights on veteran Derby County defender Curtis Davies, as per a Patreon report by journalist Alan Nixon. 

A previous Alan Nixon Patreon report claimed that Bristol City are interested in a move for the 37-year-old, with Nigel Pearson being keen to add experience within a relatively youthful Robins side.

Davies played every single minute of the relegated club’s league campaign, with their 21-point deduction leading them to League One.

Proving once more to be an excellent leader and an inspiration to the more youthful members coming through the ranks, Davies won the club’s Player of the Season award too, displaying just how important he had been.

Proving to be a solid figure for Derby during the 2021/22 campaign, even at 37, he would definitely be a wise short-term addition.

Not only has he been solid – but has also been a real leader of an inexperienced side and with the Tigers set to see quite a few players join the club in the summer – he could be the stable figure needed to help gel the squad together.

On a free transfer as well and with Davies unlikely to demand a huge salary, he would be a low-risk addition that could help the East Yorkshire outfit to push for a finish in the top half.

Showing he can remain fit after playing in all 46 of the Rams’ league games during 2021/22, there should be no concerns over his ability to remain fit.
