Winter Olympics: Team GB women curlers on ‘phenomenal’ Olympic gold win
Great Britain women's curling team admit they were surprised by their dominant win against Japan that saw Team GB claim their first and only gold medal at the Beijing Winter Olympics.
The game’s defining moment arrived with the final stone of the seventh end when Eve Muirhead delivered a brilliant raised take-out to score four and give Great Britain a virtually unassailable 8-2 lead.
Ms Muirhead acknowledged her elation at finally securing a long coveted Olympic gold medal,
“It is a dream come true for myself, and for the rest of the girls,” she told the BBC.
