Winter Olympics 2022: When is the curling gold medal game and what are curling stones made of?

Curling is a major sporting event at the Olympics and is back in the spotlight at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.

The stones used by the competitors originate in an uninhabited Scottish island. They are handcrafted especially for the Games at Kays Curling’s workshop in Mauchline, Ayrshire.

Founded in 1851, Kays Curlin has been providing the stones for the Winter Olympics since the Chamonix Games in 1924.

The 72-year-old company director Jimmy Wyllie has been working at the workshop since the age of 15.
