Wilson could get Ibrox rocking with new deal for "unplayable" £18k-p/w Rangers maestro - opinion

A claim has emerged on Glasgow Rangers winger Ryan Kent and what a new contract would mean for the squad…

Journalist Pete O’Rourke has claimed that Gio van Bronckhorst would greatly benefit from the Light Blues being able to agree fresh terms with the Englishman.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I think Ryan Kent has shown that he is one of Rangers’ top performers.

“I think there’s been lots of speculation around his future and maybe moving away, so if they can get him on a new contract, that would be a huge boost for van Bronckhorst this season.”

The Gers head coach confirmed, at the end of last month, that the club are speaking with the winger about extending his stay in Glasgow, saying:

“Ryan’s abilities and qualities are on a high level. Talks with him are happening at the moment to extend his contract.

“The same with Alfredo. Hopefully they can sign new contracts that will keep them at Ibrox for longer than this season.”

Whilst Kent putting pen to paper would be a boost to van Bronckhorst, a new deal for the winger could also leave the fans inside Ibrox rocking with joy.

Ross Wilson could delight the fanbase and put them on cloud nine by reaching a conclusion to the seemingly ongoing talks with the former Liverpool man.

The Rangers faithful have had to watch Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey leave the club for Southampton and Ajax respectively this summer and pinning Kent to a new contract could show the fans that they are not heading down the same path with him.

He currently has less than a year to run on his deal and, as it stands, he will be able to sign a pre-contract with a foreign club in January. Supporters, particularly after the two big sales this year, would surely be frustrated with Kent leaving for nothing next year,
