Wilshere, Mbenza and Diame 'in the frame' to join West Brom promotion push

Steve Bruce could look to get West Bromwich Albion’s promotion push back on track by signing free agents Jack Wilshere, Isaac Mbenza and Mohamed Diame, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Bruce was appointed as the Baggies’ manager earlier this month, replacing the sacked Valerien Ismael in the Hawthorns dugout.

Shortly after Bruce moved into the West Brom hot seat, TEAMtalk claimed a trio of free agents had moved onto the Baggies’ radar.

The report suggests Mbenza and Diame have been offered to Albion, while Wilshere is also of interest while he is still without a club.

Mbenza, 25, left Qatar SC last month but boasts Premier League and Championship experience thanks to a previous spell on the books of Huddersfield Town.

Diame, who has been without a club for more than half-a-year, has been managed by Bruce before and enjoyed the most prolific spell of his career under the new Baggies boss.

Two-time FA Cup winner Wilshere left Bournemouth at the end of last season and is currently training with former club Arsenal to keep up his fitness levels.

The 30-year-old central midfielder has made his feelings clear about wanting to continue playing despite his extended period away from competitive action.

O’Rourke believes West Brom are in need of fresh faces if they want to reignite their push for promotion to the Premier League.

With the transfer window being shut, the journalist feels attracting the likes of Mbenza, Diame and Wilshere to the Hawthorns could prove to be a clever move by Bruce.
