Willy Hutchinson grabbed by throat as pre-fight face off with Joshua Buatsi descends into a brawl

Willy Hutchinson and Joshua Buatsi had to be separated during a pre-fight face off that saw the Scottish boxing star grabbed by the throat.

The brawl occurred during a media day for the stellar boxing bill at Wembley on September 21, where Hutchinson and Buatsi will do battle for the interim WBO light-heavyweight title on the undercard of Anthony Joshua's world title showdown with Daniel Dubois. Hutchinson has bounced back from his only professional loss to Lennox Clarke in 2021 to get himself into world title contention with a string of five victories.

Hutchinson and Buatsi managed to keep a lid on their emotions at Wednesday's launch press conference, but let them boil over in a tussle that saw security and the respective teams of the two fighters desperately try to pull them away. In a clip shared on TNT Sports' X account, Hutchinson can be seen pushing his face into his English opponent before British champion Buatsi retaliates by going for the 25-year-old's throat.

The winner of the September clash will be in line for a crack at the full WBO title, which is currently held by powerhouse Artur Beterbiev. The Russian champion was due to face Dmitry Bivol for the undisputed light-heavyweight crown back earlier this month but had to pull out with an injury, although the highly anticipated bout is expected to take place in Saudi Arabia later this year.
