Willie Limond funeral draws galaxy of boxing heroes who remember a fighter without compare

A host of stars from the boxing world turned out to say goodbye to treasured Scottish fighting hero Willie Limond at a service in Glasgow.

The 45-year-old tragically passed away a fortnight ago after suffering a seizure and a series of leading figures within British boxing have gathered to remember the Glasgow star. Limond boasted a stellar record of 42 wins in 48 contests but his impact on the sweet science was felt beyond the ring.

Former opponent Ricky Burns was in attendance during the goodbye at Daldowie Crematorium, as was former Scottish world champion Scott Harrison and leading promoter Alex Morrison. Limond left a lasting impact on those he met both in his time in the sport and in everyday life, another recognisable face was former world champion Anthony Crolla who was also in attendance.

Yes, he famously put Amir Khan on his backside and battled valiantly against Edinburgh's Alex Arthur but Limond was able to also leave one on the everyman with a winning personality and brilliant sense of humour. Scottish sport is a poorer place without Willie and his legacy will be one which live on with Scottish boxing currently in mourning.
