William Wragg MP says he has been battling depression and will be taking a 'short break' from politics
William Wragg MP has announced he will be taking a 'short break' from politics due to his 'severe' anxiety and depression. The Conservative Hazel Grove MP made the announcement on social media on Tuesday afternoon and spoke openly about his battle with mental health for most of his adult life.
Sharing the news to social media, he said that instead of 'entirely' giving up his political career, he would be taking a short break away. He went on to reassure his constituents that his team will continue to do their 'utmost' to help them.
He also urged those who are battling similar feelings to speak out to someone they trust and accept support. "Do not assume those who are outwardly confident and successful are without doubts and despair," he went on to say.

In full, his post read: "I have lived with depression and anxiety for most of my adult life. At the moment, both are severe.
"I am resisting the temptation to give up entirely. As such, I require a short break. I know that how I feel is far from unique. I would say to anyone who feels similarly, that they should speak to someone they trust, seek and accept support.
