William Gallas claims Paul Pogba is 'not strong enough' for Manchester United and Premier League

Two-time Premier League champion William Gallas has suggested Paul Pogba does not have a strong enough mentality to play consistently for Manchester United in the Premier League.

The midfielder is poised for an Old Trafford exit when his contract expires this summer. The World Cup winner has not explicitly ruled out a move to another Premier League club but it is thought nearly all of the transfer interest is coming from abroad.

Pogba limped off with a calf injury inside ten minutes of United’s 4-0 defeat to Liverpool on Tuesday. Gallas believes that will come to be his last appearance for the club.

He explained how we thought Pogba has been too inconsistent for United since his £89m switch from Juventus in 2016. Former Arsenal and Chelsea defender Gallas underlined the importance of having a “strong” mindset when playing in the Premier League.

He told Genting Casino : “To play in the Premier League is really difficult. It's really tough, there is a lot of intensity and you have to repeat your performance almost every game, it's not easy.

“Some players can do it because they're strong in their mind. Some players can't do it, they play one game and their level will be very high and then in the two next games they'll be average.”

He added: “For the quality that Pogba has, you need to be consistent so that's why people are a little angry with him. He's not [mentally] strong enough and his performances show he's not strong enough to be consistent for one season.

“He only did it when he was at Juventus and then he joined Man United. Since then, he hasn't had that consistency, so he's not strong enough.”
