'Will surely' - Nottingham Forest fans debate selection dilemma after Steve Cooper message

Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper has plenty of tough selection decisions when it comes to naming his team.

There are plenty of dilemmas throughout the side. But it seems one player Reds fans would like to see get his chance is January signing Sam Surridge.

The striker is yet to make the starting line-up in the league, although he has done so in the FA Cup. However, he has impressed from off the bench and continues to catch the eye.

Last weekend saw the 23-year-old net his third goal for the club since putting pen to paper from Stoke City on deadline day. It was a clinical finish, too, as he pounced on a delightful pass from Scott McKenna to round off the scoring for the visitors in a 4-1 triumph at Blackpool.

Cooper has been impressed with the forward, particularly the extra work he puts in. And, ahead of Wednesday night's clash with Coventry City, he said Surridge is pushing for a starting spot.

He faces competition from Keinan Davis and Lewis Grabban, who has just returned from injury. But Forest supporters have been debating whether Surridge should get his opportunity in the first-team.

The way Coops uses him is clever, Davis softens them up, batters them and runs them ragged and then Surridge comes on with fresh legs full of running, it must scare defenders to death, he's not always going to be content playing second fiddle though.

I reckon Surridge will get a start against Coventry, with fixtures coming thick and fast it makes sense. But I would not try and second guess Cooperman he knows how to get the best out of this squad.

I would love to see a front three of Surridge, Davis and Johnson from the start. Yates and Garner in midfield and then our awesome back five.
