Will Pryce fed up of dad's gloating as he drives for superstardom

William Pryce does not need to look far for inspiration as he bids to continue his rapid rugby league ascent at Huddersfield Giants.

His famous father Leon provides regular reminders of the prizes he won during a glittering career which spanned almost two decades.

The ex-Great Britain stand-off was part of the Bradford Bulls side who won the treble in 2003 and then repeated the trick with St Helens three years later.

“My dad reminds me every day of everything he won – the six Challenge Cups, the four Super League titles, the Great Britain caps and individual honours,” says 19-year-old Will.

“It’s a familiar story now, but I couldn’t be prouder of what he achieved and he should be proud of himself.

“Growing up as a young lad, I was around a winning culture through my dad’s career.

“I’ve experienced different cultures and lived in France when he played for Catalans, so I can speak two languages.

“Not being stuck in the same bubble all my life has been a good experience for me and we’re trying to create a winning culture here at Huddersfield.

“But you don’t realise how hard it is until you’re trying to do it yourself day in and day out.

“This pre-season has been a reality check for me because it’s been ridiculously tough.”

Leon was forced to retire through injury during his second spell at Bradford in May 2017 and struggled to come to terms with the fact his career was finally over.

“It’s really hard to explain, but the better William does, the better I feel,” the 40-year-old said.

“Don’t get me wrong, it’s been really hard for me to come away from rugby because it’s my life and my passion.

“But for Will to be doing it? I’m buzzing again.

“My three children are my most prized possessions.
