Wife's horrific abuse of husband caught on nanny cam as footage made public for first time

A woman who subjected her husband to 20 years of abuse was only caught when a nanny cam filmed her sickening behaviour. Now, the footage has been made public for the first time.

Sheree Spencer, of Beals Close, Market Weighton, pleaded guilty to coercive and controlling behaviour and three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and years of attacking her husband Richard. In one clip from the nanny cam, Sheree holds a carving knife.

In an exclusive new interview for Channel 5's My Wife The Abuser: The Secret Footage, Humberside Police officers explain that Sheree came up with a lie when they quizzed her about why she was holding the carving knife during one of the confrontations caught on film. She falsely claimed: "I wanted to give him it because he had threatened me, wanted to kill me.

"He'd rather kill me than divorce me. I reached for the knife because, if he wants to kill me, just do it."

But her lie fell apart when Humberside Police played her the same clip with the audio, shattering the story she had made up. Patrol officer PC Cooke recalled that Sheree was drunk and didn't seem shocked when he told her she was being arrested on suspicion on common assault when police were called to the family home in 2021.

Richard Spencer handed over 43 photographs of injuries, 36 video clips and nine mobile phone recordings to the police, Hull Crown Court heard. Sheree, at the time a senior manager at the Ministry of Justice, regularly assaulted and verbally abused her husband.
