Michelle Keegan seen for first time filming new series in Australia after Netflix success

Michelle Keegan has been seen filming her next big TV project for the first time after ditching the UK last month. The actress headed out to Australia where she is filming the second run of BBC One series Ten Pound Poms.

It comes after Michelle, who hails from Stockport, started the year with a bang by appearing in the streaming service's latest hit, Fool Me Once. The eight-part series, which landed on the streaming service on New Year's Day with rave reviews for the latest gripping adaptation of one of the best-selling authors Harlan Coben's book.

Michelle took on the role of lead character Maya Stern, an ex-army captain who is trying to come to terms with the brutal murder of her husband Joe - but it's fair to say all wasn't as it seemed after he was captured on her nanny cam.

But now, she's getting back into a very different role as she reprises the role of nurse Kate Thorne Ten Pound Poms. The first six-part series aired in May last year and followed a group of Brits as they left dreary post-war Britain in 1956 to embark on a life-altering adventure on the other side of the world.

Series one of Ten Pound Poms was one of the UK’s biggest new dramas of last year, launching to a 28-day figure of 7.7 million viewers. And following its success, the BBC then revealed earlier this year that the drama will return for another installment with Stockport-born Michelle now filming alongside her fellow cast mates Faye Marsay and Warren Brown as they document their characters' continued adventures in Australia.
