Wicketkeeper Ollie Robinson to leave Kent at the end of the season and join Durham on three-year deal

Ollie Robinson will be leaving Kent at the end of the season to join Durham.

A graduate of the Kent Academy, Robinson earned his first Kent contract in September 2017 after making his debut earlier that year and he has made 100 appearances in a Kent shirt, scoring more than 3,600 runs.

He helped Kent last year win the T20 Blast title but went on loan to Durham for this season’s T20 Blast competition and clearly made a good impression before returning to help Kent last weekend win the Royal London One-Day Cup. He was fine form in this year's 50-over competition, as he scored a record-breaking 206 not out in their win at Worcestershire last month.

He was awarded Kent men’s cap 222 in June in recognition of his performances for the club.

Robinson said: “This is an extremely tough decision for me to make but I feel that this is right for me at this time in my career.

“I’ve been at Kent Cricket since I was 10-years-old and have truly loved representing my boyhood county over the past six seasons.

“I’m unreservedly grateful to everyone in the Kent coaching system that has got me to where I am now.

“Winning two trophies with the club in two seasons will forever be a highlight of my career - as will other memories of good wins, good innings, good moments, and most of all, good people.

“Kent will always have a special place in my heart but for now it’s goodbye and I wish the club all the very best in the future.”

Kent director of cricket Paul Downton said: “We currently have two wicketkeepers who are in and around senior England squads in Sam Billings and Jordan Cox, and Ollie Robinson has toured with England Lions.
