'Why waste £50m on Mount?' - Man United fans send Erik ten Hag message over Scott McTominay

Manchester United fans have urged the club to keep hold of Scott McTominay this summer and change his role in the team after his goalscoring exploits for Scotland.

McTominay scored again for the national team as Steve Clarke's side made it four wins from four games in qualifying for Euro 2024. The 26-year-old grabbed his side's second goal of their 2-0 win over Georgia, with his strike shortly after half-time adding to Callum McGregor's early effort. Scotland sit top of Group A, eight points ahead of Tuesday's opponents in second, and they look in fine shape to qualify for the European Championship next year.

That is not the first time McTominay has been the goalscoring hero for the Tartan Army. He has scored five goals in his last three games at Hampden Park and whilst his future at United may be uncertain, his role with Scotland is integral.

Unsurprisingly, McTominay's performance for Scotland got United fans talking online about whether he should be sold this summer, with the club expected to sanction plenty of departures in a bid to generate transfer funds. After netting again, some supporters were urging Erik ten Hag to resist the temptation to sell him this summer and consider altering the midfielder's position in the team.

Some suggested McTominay was 'underrated' whilst another suggested playing him in a more advanced role - as he does for Scotland. Another even suggested that buying Mason Mount was unnecessary.

Here's a handful of the responses to McTominay's latest performance for his national team.
