Why pressure is off at Bolton ahead of Wigan, Portsmouth & Sheffield Wednesday in promotion chase

Bolton Wanderers do not need to have any pressure on them as the climax of the League One season approaches ahead of taking on the likes of Sheffield Wednesday and Wigan Athletic as they seek to stay in the promotion hunt.

That's according to Wanderers attacker Elias Kachunga.

Wanderers return to action this weekend after not having a game over the international break due to numerous players being called up for their national teams.

These have included Dion Charles for Northern Ireland, Jon Dadi Bodvarsson for Iceland, Amadou Bakayoko for Sierra Leone and James Trafford for England's under-20s.

But Wanderers will return to action this Saturday when they make the short journey to take on rivals Wigan at the DW Stadium.

It is the start of a big week at Bolton which could well decide if their current faint hopes of reaching the League One play-offs will continue or not.

After taking on the Latics, Wanderers have back to back home games against fellow top six hopefuls Portsmouth and Sheffield Wednesday.

Kachunga believes all at Bolton are looking forward to taking on Wigan as they kick off a big week for the club and the attacker believes the dressing room must approach every game as a cup final now and see where it takes them at the end of April.

Kachunga said: “Everyone is looking forward to that game.

“The international break has given us a chance to re-focus and reset a little. We can train hard then to make sure we are ready for the Wigan match.
