Why Manchester United's Premier League clash with Brentford will kick-off at 8pm

Manchester United are back in Premier League action this weekend when they visit relegation-threatened Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Erik ten Hag will be hoping his team can keep their momentum going after a brilliant afternoon at Old Trafford before the international break. Amad scored deep into the second half of extra time to secure a 4-3 victory over Liverpool in a modern-day FA Cup classic.

However, the push for Champions League qualification will be top of the priority list when the Reds face Thomas Frank's Bees. Fans who cannot make it down to London will be able to watch the match at home after it was chosen for TV coverage.

The game shall kick off at 8pm, but why so late? MEN Sport has taken a closer look.

Traditionally on a Saturday, two games are broadcast live from the Premier League. An early kick-off at 12:30pm followed by the teatime kick-off at 5:30pm.

The Premier League has since added a new live broadcast time of 8pm on Saturdays which has often been utilised instead of the 12:30pm kick-off if a team has been playing in Europe on a Wednesday night to allow for an adequate rest. This then means that there is no lunchtime game but, unusually, TNT Sports will be broadcasting Newcastle vs West Ham at 12:30pm on Saturday.

The decision to kick-off at 8pm is so that Sky Sports can broadcast the game without clashing with any other fixtures that day. Take a look at the full matchday fixture list below:

Saturday, March 30

Newcastle United vs West Ham United (12:30pm, TNT Sports)

AFC Bournemouth vs Everton (3pm)

Chelsea vs Burnley
