Why Manchester United can give Ajax's Antony what he wants
Manchester United are currently in the process of searching for a new manager. The Manchester Evening News understand that Erik ten Hag has been interviewed for the role and the talks were positive, but the club wants to interview all possible candidates before making their final decision.
If Ten Hag was to be appointed, however, there would be a significant amount of fanfare from the fanbase before the conversation quickly changed to the question of 'Ok then, who are United going to sign?' The club did not sign a single player in the January window despite the need for a defensive midfielder, in case the decision conflicted with their next manager — which puts a lot of pressure on the club to get it right in summer.
Midfielders will be at the top of the agenda, with an already existing hole in the number six position — but also a need to replace United's current holder of the number six shirt, Paul Pogba, who plays further forward. But some reports have also linked United with a move for a right-winger and if Ten Hag is to be the next manager, the Dutch manager wants to bring forward Antony with him wherever he moves, according to the Telegraph. The Brazilian winger has been in great form for Ajax this season, scoring 12 goals and registering eight assists in 33 appearances.
