Why Kai Rooney loves another club despite dad Wayne's legendary Manchester United status
Manchester United supporters would love to see 15-year-old Kai Rooney follow in his father's footsteps at Old Trafford, but while that is still a possibility, his affection is towards another club.
The teenager has been making waves in the United academy, showing he has inherited his dad Wayne's lethal finishing with some standout performances. However, Rooney, like his father, supports Everton.
On Instagram this Sunday, the youngster made his affiliations clear as he shared a picture of the new Everton boss David Moyes to his story with the caption: "This man," accompanied by a love heart emoji. In recent years, Rooney has been spotted at Goodison Park watching the Toffees in action.
Most recently, the teenager attended the clash against Nottingham Forest during the Christmas period with his mum, Coleen, and his brothers, Cass and Kit. When growing up in Liverpool, United legend Rooney grew up an Everton supporter and completed his childhood dream of representing the club on two different spells.
Sandwiched between those stints on Merseyside was his iconic run with United, where he became a club legend. Speaking in March last year, Rooney described his loyalties as split before the Reds faced Everton at Old Trafford.
"It's always a difficult one for me because I have so much love for both clubs," he told TNT Sports. "Obviously Everton are in a bit of a difficult position right now in the league, and United aren't where we want them to be.
"I'm just looking forward to seeing a good game, and may the best team win." Rooney's eldest son has been to watch United too and showed his reaction from the away end during the recent 2-2 draw against Liverpool at Anfield.
But while his affiliation to United is deep-rooted, it
