Why it’s difficult for Roma to sack Jose Mourinho

Roma could face some financial issue in sacking manager Jose Mourinho this season, reports getfootballnewsitaly.com.

The Giallorossi lost 3-1 to Milan on Sunday and remained ninth on the table and the club’s fans weren’t happy after the result, as they asked the players to show more grit in games. Mourinho was in the stands due to suspension, and he couldn’t speak after the game.

It has been reported that Mourinho’s future is uncertain at the club, and he has to win the next two games to stay in the job. He is losing trust in the eyes of the owner and there is a disappointment about the current season.

La Repubblica now state that Mourinho is losing credit in the eyes of the club and even the fans aren’t truly happy. Having said that, it might not be too easy for Roma to sack the Portuguese, whose contract runs out in the summer of 2024 and the club isn’t making moves to renew it.

If Roma wants to sack Mourinho, they would have to pay a certain financial penalty to terminate his contract in the event of an early exit.

He had that clause in his recent Tottenham spell, his Chelsea spell and even in his Manchester United spell and he earned a major amount from the exit.

It remains to be seen if Roma can afford to pay that sum this season.
