Why I formed Football Fans Tribe – Tokoni Iderima

Founder of Football Fans Tribe, Tokoni Joseph Iderima,, has said that the social media platform was formed to promote the culture of football supportership among Nigerian fans, providing a common ground for discussion, celebration, and banter.

Speaking to a select group of journalists, the brain behind Football Fans Tribe said, “Football is something sewn into our lifestyle as Nigerians, so by default, the passion is there, but then it now also serves as an escape from the current realities.”

Tokoni Iderima’s vision for Football Fans Tribe began in 2019, inspired by fan-centric content from platforms like AFTV and United Stand.

Noting the untapped football fan landscape in Nigeria, he sought to create a platform where fans could unite, share their passion, and showcase Nigerian football culture to a global audience.

Bridging the gap that existed before, the CEO of Football Fans Tribe explained that “there was not any such football fan platform on the internet outside Europe, talk less in Africa, so there was a need to let the world see how we follow our beloved clubs, the national team and how we discuss, banter, and celebrate football with each other”.

And to its credit, Football Fans Tribe has successfully bridged this gap, attracting significant following from Nigerians in the diaspora and other Africans.
