Manchester United have wasted no time in attempting to get their summer transfer business up and running.

Though the transfer window does not officially open until next Wednesday, the club has already agreed personal terms with Chelsea and England midfielder Mason Mount. United plan to strengthen their midfield options this summer and recruiting a younger midfielder is one of manager Erik ten Hag's leading priorities.

United significantly strengthened their midfield armoury with the signings of Christian Eriksen and Casemiro last summer and they both enjoyed successful maiden campaigns at Old Trafford. United have thrashed out terms with Mount, who is out-of-contract at Chelsea next summer, and want to add him to their squad ahead of next season. However, the Reds are yet to reach an agreement with Chelsea over a transfer fee as things stand.

Nevertheless, quickly agreeing personal terms means that United are moving in the right direction in their quest to bring Mount, 24, to Old Trafford. Should a deal get over the line, he would add fresh energy and a different dynamic to Ten Hag's pool of midfield options.
