Who was the intended target in Olivia Pratt-Korbel murder and what happened to him?

Olivia Pratt-Korbel was just nine years old when she was killed by a masked gunman in her family home. She died on August 22, 2022 in Merseyside.

Now, a four-part documentary offers insights into the police investigations that followed, revealing how officers tracked down those responsible. Olivia's death came after the killing of Ashley Dale in the early hours of August 21.

The 28-year-old woman lived within two miles of Olivia and was killed as part of a feud involving her attacker, his friends and her boyfriend. At the time, as pressure built on Merseyside Police to find the gunmen, some people involved with a web of feuding organised crime groups were forced to decide whether or not to talk to the police.

Olivia was killed by 34-year-old Thomas Cashman after Cashman chased convicted drug dealer Joseph Nee into her home. Cashman was jailed for a minimum of 42 years following the killing.

Nee had been at a friend’s watching football that evening and when he left the house Cashman, who had been lying in wait, chased him up Kingsheath Avenue. Nee was hit when the gunman fired three shots in the road.

When Olivia’s mother Cheryl opened her front door to see what was happening, Nee ran into the family home. He was pursued by Cashman, who fired a bullet that went through the front door, through Ms Korbel’s hand and hit Olivia in the chest as she stood behind her mother.

After Cashman fled the scene, Nee managed to get outside the house where he was picked up by associates in a car and taken to Whiston Hospital, while Olivia lay bleeding. In March of this year, Nee was fined £60 after police found a bag of cannabis in his underwear.
