Who Rangers could be tracking during English Championship scouting mission as Michael Beale praise drops striker hint

Rangers look to have started their search for a new striker in the summer transfer window as Michael Beale addresses his squad ahead of next season.

The Ibrox club could be on the look out for a striker come the end of the season with Alfredo Morelos set to leave as it stands. The Colombian is out of contract in the summer and many feel he could leave Govan after arriving from HJK in 2017. Beale added Norwich City playmaker Todd Cantwell and Standard Liege midfielder Nicolas Raskin to his ranks in the January transfer window and is expected to go on a large recruitment spree during pre-season.

With Morelos' contract up and Kemar Roofe's fitness a worry for the Ibrox boss he will be wanting to add a fresh face to his squad, and it could be Coventry forward Viktor Gyokeres. A Rangers scout was spotted at Preston North End game against Coventry on Tuesday night where the Swedish striker failed to find the back of the net in the 0-0.

Beale has previous spoken highly of the striker when he was Queens Park Rangers manager earlier this season. Speaking following QPR's loss to Coventry in November, he said: "We were a little bit dizzy for 10 or 15 minutes after that, but then we played some really good football.

"We were good between both boxes without doing enough in the final third. That was the difference - Gyokeres was definitely the best player on the pitch."
