Who is Thompson Ishaka? Rangers trialist gives opponent 'nightmares' as fans rave about rising star

It's been a slow start to the summer window at Rangers with John Souttar the only new face so far in Giovanni van Bronckhorst's squad currently in Portugal for a pre-season training camp.

Antonio Colak looks set to follow soon and fans will hope that deals opens the floodgates for transfer dealings with the countdown to Rangers' crucial Champions League qualifiers. But away from the starting line-up there has been an influx of talent into the Ibrox academy. Zak Lovelace, Bailey Rice and Cameron Bell have been among a host of prospects to commit their future to Rangers ahead of the new campaign.

The Lowland League offers the Rangers' youngsters a platform to test themselves in competitive fixtures next season and the Ibrox club seem to be keen on snapping up the hottest young properties. The latest name to emerge is Thompson Ishaka after his appearance as a trialist for the B side in a pre-season clash at Elgin City.

Footage of the young star, who played for 55 minutes, appeared on social media and supporters were impressed at what they witnessed - as the opposition were given a headache as Elgin defender Darryl McHardy responded to footage of the youngster say he was still "having nightmares". Here, Record Sport looks at what we know about the youngster.

The highly-rated Nigerian born winger Thompson Ishaka caught the eye while playing for his school side. He is currently attracting serious interest from a number of top clubs around the world.

The 17-year-old has previously represented Nigeria at under-15 level and is jointly managed by Johnny Precious Ogbah and Errol Olumide. The teenager sparked interest following his 'wizard like' performances during the English Schools Football Association U18 Finals.
