Who is Radek Vitek? The Manchester United youngster on the bench vs Sheriff

Young goalkeeper Radek Vitek has been included in the Manchester United matchday squad for the first time, starting tonight's Europa League clash with Sheriff Tiraspol on the bench.

Reds manager Erik ten Hag, who will be hoping to see his side get their first Group E win on the board after losing to Real Sociedad last week, has reverted back to his strongest available side, making five changes from last Thursday's 1-0 defeat. It means that, aside from Cristiano Ronaldo replacing the injured Marcus Rashford, it is the exact same XI as the one that defeated Arsenal almost a fortnight ago.

However, deadline day signing Martin Dubravka has not been named in either the starting line-up or on the bench this evening after being left out of the travelling squad for the trip to Moldova. It has meant that youngster Vitek has joined David de Gea and Tom Heaton in the goalkeeping union for the trip to the Zimbru Stadium.

De Gea, as expected, has retained his place in the starting line-up, meaning Heaton and Vitek have filled two of the places on the bench. It is the first time that Vitek has been included in the senior matchday squad.

But who exactly is the goalkeeper? MEN Sport has taken a quick look at some basic information that you may not necessarily know about the newest addition to the first-team squad.

Vitek is an 18-year-old goalkeeper who joined United from Sigma Olomouc back in 2020. He plays predominantly for United's Under-18s and more recently the Under-23s.
