Which games will Casemiro miss after red card in Manchester United vs Southampton

Midfielder Casemiro faces a four-match suspension after being sent off in the first half of Manchester United's Premier League clash with Southampton at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

The Brazilian, who joined the Reds from Real Madrid last summer, was dismissed with 34 minutes on the clock following a VAR check. He was initially cautioned by referee Anthony Taylor for a heavy challenge on Saints midfielder Carlos Alcaraz.

However, VAR ordered Taylor to review the decision and go across to the pitchside monitor. Upon review, the experienced referee made the decision to give Casemiro his second red card in just his last three Premier League appearances.

The 31-year-old was sent off during last month's 2-1 win over Crystal Palace and, as a result, was suspended for the back-to-back clashes with Leeds United and the 3-0 win over Leicester City. He only returned to the side in the league as recently as last weekend for the 7-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield.

Unless United choose to appeal the decision and are successful in their efforts, Casemiro will now serve a four-match ban across all domestic matches, starting with next Sunday's FA Cup quarter-final at home to Fulham. He will also miss the Premier League fixtures against Newcastle United, Brentford and Everton immediately after the upcoming international break.

It means he will next be available for a domestic fixture when United travel to the City Ground to face Nottingham Forest on April 15.

The Brazilian, however, will be available to face Real Betis in the second leg of United's Europa League last-16 tie on Thursday evening. Red cards earned in domestic competitions do not carry over to European fixtures.
