Where can I travel in Europe? An updated list of COVID entry rules for every European country

Most countries still have some travel restrictions in place in a bid to control the spread of COVID-19.

The latest big changes include:

Italy dropped its 'state of emergency' on 31 March but has extended its travel restrictions until 30 April.

Croatia has lifted entry rules for EU citizens, and scrapped most of its domestic measures including indoor mask wearing.

Sweden has joined the growing list of restriction-free European countries, including Denmark, Latvia, the Netherlands, Norway and Poland.

Cyprus is easing its entry rules for unvaccinated travellers and scrapping its traffic-light system from 18 April. Certain restrictions on the island will ease from 11 April.

The Czech Republic dropped all travel restrictions on 9 April, ending its colour-coded system for different countries.

Greece is dropping its COVID entry rules and mask mandate from 2 May.

Unvaccinated people can now travel to Malta without needing to quarantine, provided they have a negative PCR test.

This article is updated regularly, but rules change quickly so please check official government advice before travelling.

Measures to contain COVID-19 remain in effect, including night-time curfews from 11pm to 6am, and mandatory face masks indoors and on public transport.

All land borders are open and there is no restricted movement around the country.

All foreign nationals over the age of six must have one of the following: proof of vaccination, a negative PCR test taken less than 72 hours before arrival, a rapid antigen test taken less than 48 hours before arrival or evidence that you have recovered from COVID-19 within the last six months.
