"When You See Your Captain Blowing Fuse...": Ex-India Star On Rohit Sharma's Outburst

Rohit Sharma's outburst over Shubman Gill during the first T20I against Afghanistan has become the new talk of the town. In the chase of 159, Rohit played a delivery from Fazalhaq Farooqi to mid-off and called for a single. However, Gill was watching the ball and did not move resulting in Rohit getting run-out without scoring a single run. After getting dismissed, Rohit expressed his displeasure towards Gill and even uttered some explicit words. Many former cricketers and experts have given their take on this incident and now Rohan Gavaskar has also given his opinion.

Rohan stated that Gill should have shown some trust in his captain as it was a "walkable run" for Team India.

"It was a walkable run. Let's not forget Rohit Sharma is a kind of a person, forget captain, who doesn't get angry that often. He is very cool, calm and collective. Now, as a younger player when you see your captain who is normally at equilibrium, blowing a fuse like the way he did, then you are thinking 'Man I've got to do something special," said Rohan on Cricbuzz.

"The ball has gone behind the non-striker. Rohit has hit the ball, it's his call. As a non-striker, you've got to trust your partner. 9 times out of 10, the throw won't be at your end. The fielder at mid-off and mid-on will pick up the ball and have a shy at the bowler's end. The striker is running at the danger end," he added.

After Rohit's dismissal, Gill scored 23 off 12 balls, including five boundaries. The former batter further stated that Gill kept on watching the ball, which eventually turned out to be a big mistake.

"The mistake that Shubman made was that he was watching the ball and kept looking at the fielder. He had no idea where Rohit was until he was right next to him,"
