Three young people with their whole lives ahead of them, cruelly killed in a horrific fortnight of bloodshed and heartbreak.

The scourge of knife crime has reared its head again in Greater Manchester.

In just 14 days, two teenage boys and a 20-year-old man have their lives snatched away after being stabbed to death.

Three more families have been left grieving - their hopes and dreams for their sons, shattered.

Shockingly, there has been a stabbing involving a teenager reported by the Manchester Evening News every week in the last 12 months, and across all 10 boroughs of Greater Manchester.

The city alone has seen a 200% increase in serious youth violence offences in just two years - and while other parts of the country saw knife crime fall, offences rose by 4% in Greater Manchester in 2020-21.

Greater Manchester Police has introduced extra stop and search powers across nine areas of the region as it looks to tackle the brutality of knife crime.

At 16 years old, Kennie Carter was the youngest of the three victims.

He suffered a fatal stab wound to the chest in Stretford on Saturday, January 22.

Kennie's family described him as a 'cheeky chappy' as they warned young lives like his were being taken away far too often by knife crime.

Nine teenagers have so far been arrested on suspicion of murder, the latest being a 14-year-old boy on Wednesday night.
