When Manchester United vs Newcastle United and Sheffield United games could be played

Manchester United are waiting on dates for their Premier League fixtures against Newcastle and Sheffield United.

United's progress to the FA Cup semi-finals means scheduled league games at home to the Magpies and the Blades are now 'TBC' on the fixture list. The Premier League are not able to offer any guidance on when the games will be played, as things stand.

It's likely they will be fitted into midweek slots with every available weekend until the Premier League season finishes (on May 19) now taken up. United's 4-3 FA Cup quarter-final win over Liverpool means they have booked a semi-final date with Coventry at Wembley on either April 20 or April 21.

The final, if United get there, will be played on May 25 – the week after the league season concludes. United had been due to face Newcastle on semi-final weekend but that game – and the Sheffield United match that was due to be played on March 16 but was moved because of the Liverpool quarter-final – will now be rescheduled.

Midweek slots in April on either 9/10, 16/17 or 23/24 could be used – or even dates in May – with United already due to face Chelsea on Thursday April 4. With none of United, Newcastle or Sheffield United competing in the latter stages of European competition this season there are several available midweeks to play the games.

United resume their Premier League campaign away at Brentford on March 30 after the international break, before league games away to Chelsea and at home to Liverpool in the space of three days.
