When Man City will get FFP verdict on 115 charges amid Everton and Nottingham Forest deductions

After the Premier League imposed sanctions on Everton and Nottingham Forest this season for breaches of their rules on profit and sustainability (PSR), Manchester City have been waiting in the background.

City are under investigation themselves after allegedly breaching 115 rules regarding Financial Fair Play, which relate to a period between 2009 and 2018. The Premier League's chief executive Richard Masters has reiterated that City's investigation is very different to the cases of Everton and Forest. The two clubs this season have received points deductions of 10 (reduced to six after appeal) and four respectively, but City's case covers a bigger period and involves many more charges.

Masters revealed an unknown date for City's hearing has been set, which will reportedly be later in 2024 – though some media outlets have reported that it won't be until early 2025.

“If any club, whether they are the current champions or otherwise, had been found in breach of the spending rules for year ’23, they would be in exactly the same position as Everton or Nottingham Forest,” Masters said.

“The volume and character of the charges laid before Man City, which I cannot talk about at all, are being heard in a completely different environment.

“There is a date set for that proceeding. Unfortunately, I can’t tell you when that is but that is progressing. I can’t give any details on Man City beyond saying a date has been set, I can’t tell you when that date is.”
