When is the Viaplay Cup draw as Celtic and Rangers enter the fold for last 16 after group stage drama

The draw for the next round of the Viaplay Cup is fast approaching as the group stage of the competition comes to a crescendo.

The League Cup has already thrown up a few surprises as Premiership sides battle it out with lower league teams, with some major upsets already proving to make the romance of the tournament all the better. Namely Jim Goodwin's Dundee United fell to a defeat to Lowland League Spartans, while St Mirren and St Johnstone were bettered by League One Montrose and League Two Stenhousemuir respectively. But now it is down to the nitty gritty of the competition with the big guns ready to swing in.

Holders Celtic bested their rivals Rangers in the final last season, with a tense 2-1 victory at Hampden seeing the pendulum of a Treble swing towards the Scottish champions. And while both will hope to have the glamour of Champions League football, there can be no stopping the pursuit of domestic silverware. Record Sport has all the info you need on how and when to watch the draw.

The Viaplay Cup last 16 draw takes place on Sunday, July 30 after the full-time whistle at Dens Park in an enticing clash between Dundee and Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

The game kicks off at 3pm, with live coverage on Viaplay as both sides look for the do-or-die option to reach the next round.

The draw will be broadcast live on Viaplay Sports 1 following Dundee vs ICT on Sunday. The draw can also be viewed live on the Viaplay Player.

The big guns of Celtic, Rangers, Hearts, Aberdeen and Hibs now enter the fray for the last sixteen after their top half finishes. All will hope to be involved in European football in the long-run this campaign.

The Hoops are the holders of the trophy as they look to retain their crown under Brendan
