When is Ricky Hatton fight? Opponent, date, tickets and TV channel for boxing comeback

Former British boxer Ricky Hatton is to come out of retirement and return to the ring in his hometown of Manchester on July 2nd. Hatton, who has since become a boxing promoter and trainer, will take on Marco Antonio Barrera in an exhibition fight at the AO Arena.

The event currently features an undercard of Dan Hardy vs. Diego Sanchez, and Casey Walsh vs. Strapzy, with musical guest performances from Tion Wayne and Bad Boy Chiller Crew. The bout will be the first time Hatton has fought since losing to Vyacheslav Senchenko in 2012, although given its nature as an exhibition fight, it will not be taken as seriously as a professional contest.

Further details of the fight rules are yet to be announced, but it has been confirmed that it will last for eight-rounds. Here is all the information we know at the moment:

Tickets for the fight have not yet been released, however it is possible to register your interest for them.

TV broadcast details of the bout have not yet been confirmed.

Hatton announced the news of his comeback on Twitter, dubbing the fight 'The Hitman Rises', and stating that "It's not how you fall, it's how you rise..."

The 43 year-old has also said that this event will not mark the start of an actual comeback, but is instead staging the fight "for fans who struggled being locked up with Covid.

He added: "I got a call and was asked if I would come back to do this for the fans who have been locked up for ages during Covid. Covid has been tough for me, for everyone.
