When is Ballon d'Or 2023? Date, odds and TV channel as Erling Haaland battles Messi and Mbappe

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland will go head-to-head with the likes of Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe for this year's Ballon d'Or award.

In a superb debut season in Manchester, Haaland won the treble with City which included the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, and FA Cup crowns, as well as netting a whopping 52 goals in 53 games in all competitions.

With Messi and Mbappe both enjoying success in France with PSG too, Haaland has his work cut out for the award that was last year claimed by non other than Karim Benzema whilst with Real Madrid. Messi, controversially, was not nominated for the 2022 award.

The award will be presented at the 2023 Ballon d'Or ceremony on 30 October 2023.

It will take place at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris and is set to be hosted by former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba.

To the surprise of very few, Messi is currently 1/9 with most bookmakers to claim his 8th Ballon d'Or prize, after winning the 2022 World Cup in Qatar with Argentina.

Haaland is the second favourite and is priced at 13/2, whilst Real Madrid and England superstar Jude Bellingham had been handed odds of 20/1 to scoop his first prize in France.

Official broadcast details for the event have yet to be confirmed, but it was shown online via YouTube in 2022. MEN Sportwill also be covering the ceremony.

As well as the men's and women's Ballon d'Or, the Lev Yashin trophy for the best goalkeeper as well as the team of the year, Puskas goal of the year and Gerd Muller top scorer award are all set to be handed out.
