When does the 2022 summer transfer window open as Sheffield Wednesday transfer embargo ends?

Football is a fast-moving game both on and off the pitch - Sheffield Wednesday’s play-off semi-final heartbreak is less than a week old but those in charge at Hillsborough will already be looking forward to the summer.

The opening of the transfer window will be particularly pertinent for Wednesday, who have not been able to sign players on a permanent deal since last year due to restrictions placed on the club by the EFL. Owls manager Darren Moore has been left with loan signings or free agents, and has done a remarkable job considering.

Club owner Dejphon Chansiri said in February that the transfer embargo will end in the summer, meaning that Moore can finally negotiate a transfer window with some funds behind him. This summer is likely to be full of movement at Hillsborough, both incoming and outgoing.

The summer transfer window for EFL clubs is set to open and shut at the same time as the Premier League.

It will open on Friday, June 10 until Thursday, September 1 at 11pm - that’s 83 days to get all the deals done.

Out of contract players can move as free agents before the window opens in June.
