When Aston Villa 2022/23 kits will be released and pre-season plans

It is that time of year again, when discussions over Aston Villa’s new kit for next season begin to heat up.

The conversation has been stoked by a supposed "leak" on social media which claimed to show the home, away and third shirts for Villa's 2022/23 campaign. The trio all carried the Castore logo, following reports that first surfaced in December claiming that the Manchester-based company were set to take over from Kappa after the end of their three-year deal.

Founded by brothers Philip and Thomas Beahon in 2015, Castore have previously created kits for Newcastle United, Rangers and Wolves. However, Villa are yet to confirm any deal with Castore, while club owner Nassef Sawiris’ shares with Adidas have also seen the club linked with the German brand.

However, as the current season is still going, it is unlikely Villa will announce their new official kit in the coming weeks. The announcement has typically been made a few days prior to the club’s first pre-season game.

Last summer Villa waited until the end of Euro 2020 to share their current kit designs, revealing the shirts on July 14, a week before the traditional summer fixture at Walsall. The previous year had seen the announcement delayed due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the footballing calendar.

Villa have already announced three of their pre-season fixtures as they embark on their first-ever tour of Australia . Taking part in the Queensland Champions Cup, Steven Gerrard’s side are set to face Leeds United in Brisbane on July 17 before playing Brisbane Roar on July 20.

It has also been confirmed that the club will face Manchester United in Perth on July 23. However, Villa are yet to formally announce their full pre-season schedule,
