What Wilfried Zaha told Rio Ferdinand in the tunnel before Manchester United vs Galatasaray

Former Manchester United centre-back Rio Ferdinand has revealed what was said when he met up with Galatasaray's Wilfried Zaha ahead of Tuesday night's Champions League clash at Old Trafford.

Zaha, who had a failed spell at United between 2013 and 2015, joined the Turkish giants during the summer transfer window after leaving Crystal Palace. He spent eight years in his second spell at Selhurst Park, but was desperate to test himself at European level for the very first time.

The Ivorian, 30, had his fair share of offers on the table, but Galatasaray, who last faced United back in 2012, presented him with the most attractive offer. He put pen to paper on a three-year deal.

Since leaving United back in 2015, the winger has developed significantly, often being a reliable source of goals and assists. And for Ferdinand, who was still at United when Zaha was signed back in 2013, he has matured and developed since leaving M16.

"He's matured a lot, definitely," Ferdinand told TNT Sports. "A huge development in terms of his maturity, mentally, and a big change in his character as well.

"Sir Alex Ferguson brought him here, but he never got to manage him because of a change in hierarchy so that affected him massively. He was a young kid, came up here with no friends or family and was left to his own devices, really.

"He just had to let his legs do the talking, but he got through it and became a talisman at Palace. One-vs-one he's an absolute nightmare for defenders.
