What time the David Beckham documentary drops on Netflix and everything we know so far

A new Netflix documentary promises to tell the unfiltered story of footballing icon David Beckham.

Both his personal and professional lives will be uncovered in the four-part series from director Fisher Stevens and producer John Battsek - both Academy-award winners. The docuseries features candid interviews with Beckham himself, as well as his friends, family and colleagues.

In the ’90s, he joined Manchester United from humble working-class beginnings in East London. His reputation as a pretty boy dating Spice Girl Victoria Beckham grew as rapidly as his reputation as a brilliant footballer who didn’t always perform under pressure.

But in the 11 years he played with United, Beckham helped lead them to become the best football team on the planet, though not without serious setbacks - including the infamous 1998 World Cup finals game in which Beckham was sent off with a red card after kicking Diego Simeone of Argentina, ultimately leading to England’s loss.

The star will also discuss his 24-year-marriage to fashion designer Victoria - with whom he shares four children, sons Brooklyn, 24, Romeo, 21 and Cruz, 18, and daughter Harper, 12. In a short teaser clip, the pair open up about how they first met each other - with Posh admitting friends would joke she was 'stalking' Becks.

Victoria said in the clip: "The fact I went to the games really was just to kind of... some would say 'stalk' him, I would say 'see' him. When I saw him in the footballers' lounge, all the other footballers were at the bar, but he was standing talking to his parents and I am very close to my family, and I loved that side to him."
