What time local election results are expected for council and counts across England and UK

Voters will be heading to the polls in around 200 local authority areas across the UK today (Thursday, May 5). Every council seat in Scotland, Wales and London is up for grabs and there are polls across much of the rest of England too.

Counts will be taking place at different times in different places. Usually, the vote counting takes place overnight, but the Covid-19 pandemic has meant that some councils are now starting their counts the following day. It is up to returning officers in each voting area to determine the arrangements for counting votes and announcing results.

With so many different results coming in throughout the night and into the next day, you may be wondering when to expect the results for your area. The PA media agency has outlined when the results of all the counts taking place across the UK can be expected.
