Kris Boyd hopes Steve Clarke shrugs off the Euro 2024 disappointment to lead Scotland to the Nations League and the next World Cup campaign - as James McFadden was left wondering over the approach to the do or die Hungary clash.

McFadden wondered if Scotland could have been more adventurous in a game where a win would have secured history as the first ever team to reach the knockout stage. It was a sucker punch but Scotland had a go to try and win the game. Yes, two points might have been enough but the likelihood is that it wasn’t going to be. Scotland had to go and win the game and you leave yourself open to the counter attack. Hungary looked the most likely to score with the chances they created.
