What strikes are happening in July and will schools, trains and hospitals be affected?

July has become one of the busiest months for strikes in the UK since the current wave of industrial action began in the summer of 2022. Various sectors are experiencing strikes, with teachers, Amazon workers, junior doctors, hospital consultants, rail workers, London Underground workers, and radiographers all participating in the ongoing industrial action.

Teachers across England have already staged two days of strikes, expressing their concerns over pay, working conditions, and the government's handling of education. Meanwhile, Amazon workers at the company's Coventry depot are currently in the midst of a three-day walkout, which will conclude on July 13.

Here are the major strikes still scheduled to take place this month:

Junior doctors in England, represented by the British Medical Association (BMA), will go on strike from 7 am on July 13 to 7 am on July 18. The strike is in response to concerns over working hours, pay, and patient safety.

Hospital consultants in England, also represented by the BMA, will stage a strike from 7 am on July 20 to 7 am on July 22. They are protesting against proposed changes to their pension scheme.

Rail workers at 14 train operators, represented by the Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers Union (RMT), have planned strikes on July 20, July 22, and July 29. The strikes are in relation to disputes over pay, working conditions, and job security.

London Underground workers, including drivers, represented by the RMT, will strike on July 23 and from July 25 to July 28. The strikes are in response to concerns over pay, working conditions, and the treatment of staff.

London Underground drivers, represented by the Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen (Aslef), will stage strikes
