What Manchester United players did after Coventry City FA Cup win speaks volumes

Manchester United will face Manchester City in the FA Cup final next month but they did not cover themselves in glory against Coventry City.

With 20 minutes of normal time remaining, United looked to be cruising to the final with Scott McTominay, Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes putting them in a comfortable lead. However, a spectacular collapse saw the Championship club take the game to extra time as Ellis Simms, Callum O'Hare and a Haji Wright penalty sealed the comeback.

The Sky Blues thought they had won it at the end of the added 30 minutes but Victor Torp's goal was ruled out by VAR for offside. Eventually, penalties were needed to separate the two clubs.

Despite Casemiro missing United's first penalty, Rasmus Hojlund won the game from the spot 4-2. After the final whistle, there were no wild celebrations.

As Hojlund ran towards his fans he was joined by Christian Eriksen, however the remaining United players turned to commiserate the Coventry squad. The Reds' players then went over to clap the fans before sheepishly leaving the field.

It is fair to suggest that United's players were less than pleased with how the game panned out and have plenty to work on before returning to Wembley at the end of the season to face their fierce rivals. City vs United will be a repeat of last season's FA Cup final which the Blues won 2-1 thanks to an Ilkay Gundogan brace.

City secured their place in the showpiece match on Saturday with a 1-0 victory over Chelsea.
