What Manchester United favourite Patrice Evra said about heated spat with Man City staff after Real Madrid clash

Former Manchester United defender Patrice Evra swore twice on American television on Wednesday night as he tried to explain his altercation with some of Manchester City's staff members after their win over Real Madrid at the Etihad Stadium.

With the tie finely poised at 1-1 following last week's first leg at the Bernabeu, City swept the Spanish giants aside, winning 4-0 to book a date with Inter Milan in Istanbul next month. First-half goals from Bernardo Silva fired the hosts into a 2-0 lead before goals from Manuel Akanji and Julian Alvarez after the break completed a famous victory.

In the midst of the City celebrations at full-time, however, former United left-back Evra found himself in a heated discussion with City staff on the very edge of the pitch. Evra was pitchside as he was covering the game as a pundit.

Donning a red suit, Evra, who spent eight years at Old Trafford, was filmed getting involved in a discussion with members of City staff, including those part of the coaching team. Unsurprisingly, it quickly went viral on social media, with the former United ace being accused by some of those watching of trying to make himself centre of attention on a night of celebration for United's arch-rivals.

However, Evra soon explained what was said between himself and City's staff when he appeared on CBS Sport alongside the likes of Jamie Carragher and Thierry Henry. However, he failed to summarise the conversation without swearing, leaving presenter Kate Abdo to apologise to those watching.

Upon first joining the CBS Sports team, Evra, when asked why he was wearing a red suit, said: "Because I am a United legend."
